Donating my eggs - how long to be matched?

#1 Post by Chazicle » Thu Jan 31, 2019 8:33 pm

Hi everyone! Newbie here.
I am with Care as a egg donor as we are using it to help fund our own IVF treatment and 100% want to help someone else. I have just returned home from a holiday and have a Zika test booked. I have already had all the other tests to check I’m able to egg share. My question is how long am I likely to wait to be matched up with a recipient? And how long will it take to match our cycles etc?

I know what’s ahead of me and my partner and I just want to get on with it as soon as possible. The waiting is frustrating :|

Thank you xx

I was matched in days and it takes about a cycle or two to match x

Hey, we started the process in Feb last year. Eventually got our cycle in October! It is very frustrating the waiting but once we were matched everything went very fast.

Good luck with everything.
IVF/ICSI Nov 2018 - fresh cycle - BFN 😢
FET March 2019 - BFN 😢
IVF/ICSI July 2019 - Fresh cycle- BFP 🥰

Thank you, fingers crossed it doesn’t take too long. Crazy all this waiting and that’s without any potential pregnancy complications  xx

Heya, yeah that’s the only thing I’ve found is that you just have to wait and they dictate what happens when. It’s really hard because it’s totally out of your control :/ we decided to donate in the end as we couldn’t assume it would work first time and we don’t have loads of money to use for it.. It’s a nice feeling but probably will take longer. Have to do what’s best for you :) x

Have you not started anything yet then or been told anything about how long it will take

Yes I've had all the scans and blood tests. The only one now is a Zika test (we had our honeymoon in Thailand) which is scheduled for a couple of weeks time. After that they will find a recipient for my eggs. They said it could take a month to find one and match our cycles but I'm anticipated waiting a bit longer from what people have said on here.. What stage are you at? :)

Did they say a month just to be matched or a month for matched and to match cycles.
Im at the beginning, i had my internal scan 11th jan and my first consultation is on monday. So i have had to wait a month to see the consultant. My wife has been through it before about 8 years ago but changed alot since then.
I know there going to ask about egg sharing if i am suitable, i want to but just worried as to how long it takes as i have waited long enough to try for children, i want to get started asap really.

They said a couple of weeks to source a recipient and a couple of weeks to match cycles hopefully. I guess it depends on what’s best for you and your eggs. I’m 28 so I am hoping I have time on my side but if I was older I would probably not want to be reliant on anyone else.

Hi myself & husband have had our 1st initial scans and bloods done and awaiting the donor team to be in touch with next steps. Can I ask what screening is involved once you are booked under the donor team for screening etc?
1st time ivf due to blocked tubes and possible egg donor depending on screening etc./. Thank you.

Hi,

I tried to donate my egg's earlier this year and I was almost the full way through the injections when I suspect I had food poisoning and due to this my hormone levels dropped dramatically, so the day I was to take the trigger injection I was told I couldn't proceed.

Care fertility said even though my egg's were many it had taken a long time for them to mature so they didn't want me to try again. I believe this is due to my period being all over the place with my copper coil. They said I could keep it on the whole time but I fear that was a mistake.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Has anyone been sick from the treatment?

Thank you.

Hi, did you eventually get matched? If so, if you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take from you being signed off to being matched? Then from being matched to matching cycles with the recipient?

Sorry for all the questions, it’s just I’m at this stage myself now and been waiting some weeks!! It’s so hard waiting and not knowing, when we’re so close now.

Thanks x
