Bit of a spanner in the works today 😩. I’ve got a follicle cyst on my ovary so I haven’t down regulated properly. This happened to me on my last OE cycle. I’ve had to take a trigger injection today and hope that it will release the follicle etc. I’m worried the buserelin isn’t working properly now! I obviously don’t seem to respond very well to down regulation. Anyone else ever had this problem?

No, I had an injection of hcg on Tuesday which is supposed to induce ovulation and another bleed but no sign of anything yet... not sure how long I wait until nothing is happening. I think of nothing happens from this point on, the cycle may get cancelled, but I’m not sure. I’ll have to wait it out and see. Quite frustrating when I’m all geared up and now it might not happen!

Thanks for asking x

Hi ladies, just wondered if you have taken extra supplements (apart from the usual prenatal etc) or done any treatments to help prepare you for ivf. I want to do the best I can to improve our chances that this will work!
I’ve ordered Zita West ivf diet book, I’ve had fertility acupuncture in the past and keep wondering whether to start this up again. Fiancé hasn’t got sperm issue but got him on conceive plus vitamin, he takes extra vitamin c and zinc. He has recently stopped doing shift work (coincidence at this time) and doing ‘normal’ day shifts so I’m cooking us both proper healthy dinners, as on shift his diet wasn’t great.
I’ve decided i will cut out my beloved wine at the weekends, and switch to decaf tea/coffee.
Just curious if any of you have made changes for treatment x

Hi Myra, I have just taken the normal prenatal vitamins and am trying to eat as healthy as possible and exercise. I did take an extra supplement when I did my last OE round of ivf which got us the best results so far but as we are using DE this time I don’t see it necessary. I’ve not read up about supplements to help implantation etc but probably should really. Dee x

I’ve just taken standard pregnancy vitamins (I think Asda brand) and my husband has been taking Condensyl tablets - they’re quite expensive bit they’re meant to reduce incidences or sperm DNA fragmentation. On my first OE cycle I did acupuncture and the cycle didn’t work at all, so I’m not really under the belief that it actually does anything.

So other than eating healthily- fruit/veg, nuts, smoothies etc. And trying to walk the dog every day, I’m not doing a huge amount differently. I heard pomegranate juice is meant to help with the lining and I might try some fertility yoga on YouTube (that’s if I actually get to that stage! 😩)

I’ve got to wait probably about another week as I should have another withdrawal bleed by then and then hopefully after that, we’ll be okay to continue. I spoke to them on the phone and they reassured me that everything should still be okay with the cycle, it’s just putting everything on hold for now. So fingers crossed it won’t have any negative effects and that things will go as they should after this. Just difficult waiting for so long... coming up to 5 weeks on buserelin!! when will you start your treatment, is it after Christmas now? X

Five weeks is a long time on buserelin, I feel for you!

We were due to start in January but have now been moved to February unfortunately. I was a bit disappointed but hopefully Christmas will make time go faster.

I hope everything goes ok for you and you have a successful cycle. Keep us informed how you’re doing. Dee x

SO, our cycle went ahead in the end.... we were a bit disappointed in that 6 eggs were retrieved (we paid exclusive so were hoping for a lot more than this). Out of the 6, 5 were mature- so we will get a call tomorrow to find out if they have fertilised or not. I don’t expect them all to. Like they said- nothing is guaranteed.

From then it’s a waiting game. We are disappointed though as the point of doing this was to get a better response as my own egg collections had already been lower in number. Fingers crossed the quality is good.

It feels like it’s been a long road to get here!

I know it’s hard, but try to stay positive. I know we all focus on the number of eggs, especially if you’ve paid for an exclusive, but it really is the quality that is important. Fingers crossed that everything goes well overnight. How strange to think what is happening right now? - hopefully it’s the start of an amazing new life for you. x

Ljcindie, I will be keeping everything crossed for you. The quality is the most important thing. I got 17 eggs on my last OE cycle and only 1 made it to blast so numbers mean nothing. Keep us updated and hopefully after the weekend you’ll give us some very positive news 😊 xxx

Hi,

Thanks for asking. So in the end, 3 eggs fertilised and 2 developed into ‘good’ blastocysts. I think they said they were above average (but not the highest level). They have implanted 1 and recommended freezing the other.

I’m currently half way through the 2ww- will take a test on NY’s eve. My feeling is it hadn’t worked, but I don’t have much idea really! I had some niggling pains etc. For the first 3 day’s after transfer and then some AF cramps on and off since then. Some days feel myself and like nothing has happened and on others have felt a bit tired, but no significant obvious symptoms.

I’m not going to test early, I’d rather wait to test date then stress out of negative and have to wait and continue medication anyway.

Christmas is keeping me busy at least! Hope you’ve had a good Xmas xx

That is really positive. I didn’t feel any different when I got pregnant with my little one (unlike the previous ones when I thought it had worked,) so don’t assume anything yet. I totally agree about waiting til test day - testing early just messed with my head.
Fingers crossed for next week. We’re all thinking of you. SLM x

Hi all just want to say to u ladies I really understand how u feel towards donor eggs but seriously it’s the best thing ever it’s the beautiful gift ever and if ur mind can get past the word donor Yal be fine it all gose on how bad do u want a baby? It’s no different to adopting if anything it’s better cis stil has ur partner dna. Like me I have had 3 failed cycles at one clinic! Each collection I went from 5 eggs to 3 to 1 was shocking! The pain I went threw at collection was terrible I even had test to check eggs I was average want even that low and stil hadn’t poor quality eggs! 4 times was enough for me i spent 18 grand on it so I went to new clinic care for chat. I got pregnant naturally in between misscarriage at 5 weeks so I knew problem was my eggs I want goin to go threw all that again an don’t more cash for no reward. Care didn’t suggest donor I did! We just wanted a baby no matter if fell from sky we wud love it. 1st attempt with care worked am currently 15 weeks pregnant and the bond I have with this baby alresdy is amazing Am so in love and I never even think of the donor or say the word cos it’s our baby I also have 4 eggs left for sibling wen am ready that’s the advantage u know ur not watering ya money eggs are better quality and have some spare unlike with ya own . I was offered counselling but didn’t need it I waited 10 years for a baby my advice is girls listen to ya heart forget the word donor get some help if need it but if ur desperate for baby it’s shudnt matter where from it’s in ur belly eating ur food kicking u and growing in u it’s ur baby beat thing I ever did we are over the moon x

So, we tested and... it’s a BFP. I am in shock!

I think because we’ve had a bumpy journey to get here and that I’ve never seen two lines on a test before, I couldn’t let myself believe that it might actually work.

We’re both fully aware it’s really early days, so we’ll take each day as it comes.

Have been awake since 5am!

Fabulous news! Try to relax (yeah right) and enjoy this moment. Yes it is early days, but don’t spend your whole pregnancy worrying like I did. I had a big bleed 5 days after my test result and everything was fine.

Have a lovely new year. x
