Hi

I was prescribed Metformin last year by Dr Patel as I have PCOS and also as it can improve egg quality. We got 3 decent embryos although there wasn't a positive test. That was only through taking the Metformin for 1 month. This year when we had treatment (didn't take Metformin!) our embryos didn't make past day 1. Needless to say I am on the Metformin and have been taking it since our failed cycle in June. Hopefully will know if it's doing anything when we nxt go through treatment. Good luck.

I take metformin for pcos not sure if it helps with egg quality otherwise though? For this cycle I also took ubiquinol for 3 months and had hrt for a month before and oestrogen during this cycle 've also help egg quality. Oh and took melatonin during stims too got my bfp two weeks ago and 3 frozen blasts better quality than last time but discuss your stim protocol with your consultant cos slower lower dose stims are meant to improve quality too. Good luck hun xx

I was on Metformin without PCOS or known egg quality issues. It certainly didn't hurt, even if it is vile stuff xx

Hi .. not really metformin related .. but sort of is connected ... had 1st failed IVf Oct this year .. so on the 3 mth break currently .. maybe trying again in march if money permits .. In the meantime ( via google of course) ive ordered some wheatgrass .. royal jelly and ubiquinol caps ... does anyone know if these are ok .. I don't want to risk messing up anything before rpt IVF.. at my review I asked RE if anything I could take/do to improve egg quality .. and got flat NO and then RE carried on talking money !! ...
on my friends failed review( her 1st failed IVF eggs never cleaved so no transfer) .. with the same RE he advised her on ubiquinol ??? no consistant advice so confused
anyone else had advice from CARE about what they can take/not take ??
im 39 .. no endo .. 1 small cyst which was drained @ EC .. 1st cycle had 7 follicles .. 3 eggs collected .. all 3 fertd.. 2 put back @ 2 day trans = BFN

I have been taking metformin for a couple of years now. It was supposed to help with PCOS. I didn't know it improves egg quality too. I am wondering how long I need to take it for, is it for life?
