Red book health record - question
Heya I noticed when the NHS print the label out with your child’s basics details like name, ethnicity and length of gestation, that both my children’s gestation is wrong. I know it doesn’t matter but one was born 40+6 and the other 41+4 but both gestation periods were rounded up to 41 and 42 respect...

FET Natural non-medicated V medicated Gestation length
Hi all
Is there any differences of gestation length if you medicate or go down the natural route of your cycle for a 5 day blastocyst?
Is everything based on LMP for a 40 week gestation?

Experiences during lockdown
Hey Were any of you not allowed to enter the clinic during lockdown? I presume so? If so. How did you cope with this exactly? It was all a bit on and off in 2020 whether partners could attend the actual embryo transfer which I think was harsh. Back in feb this year, hubby was not allowed which was g...

Two Gestational Age measurements on ultrasound
Hey all Had some additional growth scans and although the initial due date is kept to and that babies measure differently/grow at different rates, why do they still not use the up to date measurement? Last couple of growth scans shows baby a good 10-14 days ahead. Not worried but just can’t understa...

Re: Baby measuring ahead?
Ah okay. Interesting to note.
So even a CRL measurement can be slightly out give or take a few days?

Baby measuring ahead?
Hey all
Is it normal for baby to measure ahead or behind in the early scans / 12 week and 20 week?
Why is this? Any experience of this?

No measurements?
Hey all Had our first scan - close to 8 weeks in by normal calculations but the nurse said they don’t take measurements at this stage now?! Due to the tiny size the little bean is etc. But we had measurements when we last did IVF at this stage? Wonder if it is because we went with natural cycle this...

Re: FET natural cycle (non-medicated) - reading different opinions on day of transfer
Hi Pigletina Thanks very much for your help and background to your experience. I didn't realise the digi sticks were to detect surge and not ovulation. How silly I feel. Is this the case for all ovulation sticks or just clearblue? I guess clinics can only really guess and estimate when it comes to n...

FET natural cycle (non-medicated) - reading different opinions on day of transfer
Hey all Been doing my research and can see that particulary for a FET natural cycle (or otherwise), if using a 5 day blastocyst, it is recommended to transfer 5 days post-ovualtion. However, many other pieces of research say it should be done on days 6-10 post ovulation. Does it make a difference wh...

Re: 7 week scan query
ah you did - heartbeat present and correct. Buzzing beyond belief! thank you - you did but I just had more of an indepth question around it. I am curious at how the machine monitor comes up with the readings once it has measured CRL. When it reveals the gestational age, i wasn't sure if it did that ...

7 week scan query
Hey all We measured 7 weeks 2 days and CRL was just under 11mm. Mega chuffed! Something I do not understand - I know this is a gestational age and measured based on a pretend LMP (if you like) BUT, out of curiosity and pedanticness on my part, has the sonographer done anything to the ultrasound sono...

Ultrasound
Heya When an ultrasound occurs at the 6/7 week IVF scan, besides the fact it is measuring the CRL, I wonder why or how on earth how the machine detects the fetus being 2 weeks ahead? Gestational pregnancies are 40 weeks and all that but in IVF land, surely it can detect how long the fetus has been g...

Ultrasound question
When you have your first scan at the 6 or 7 week mark. How is it the sonograph calculates the pregnancy as 7 weeks rather than the age of embryo? I know, 40 week pregnancies etc, but that's based on the unknown ovulation conception date. I get how a non-IVF ultrasound automatically adds 2 weeks on t...

Re: Chemical Pregnancies + when to restart?
Thanks Smudge
Moving on quicker than I thought.
So to clarify, with a chemical pregnancy outcome, is a period? The bleed I experienced was day 1 of a menstrual cycle?
Thanks for your kind words.
Best wishes

Chemical Pregnancies + when to restart?
Hello all, A little confused, but sadly, I experienced a chemical pregnancy last week and effectively still on a period now. Am told I can restart IVF treatment on this very cycle on day 21. Question is this - am I on a period or am I still simply going through a drawn-out chemical miscarriage? What...

Re: Conflicting information
Ah absolutely. It was more a case me wondering why she would not count it as it is what I assumed a standard practice by IVF nurses and NHS GPs to add 2 additional weeks to gestation.
It was either human error or some alternative method I think.

Re: Conflicting information
Thanks for your reply.
How do you mean she counted from egg collection? Wouldn't that still be 4 weeks even if she meant to calculate via this form?

Conflicting information
Nurse said after 2 week wait from the embro transfer we would be 2 weeks 5 days pregnant. During first 7 week scan a different nurse said we were 7 weeks and a day. But somewhere an extra 2 weeks has been added as it was only 4 or 5 weeks since the transfer to the first scan. I understand you are ac...

Re:
Thanks all for your replies it has reassured me that 38 weeks from EC seems about right. My GP insisted on working the date out from LMP even though I was IVF, although it just so happened to be the same date as 38 weeks from EC so I've already had a taste of the way the NHS works. Hey. Out of curi...

FET natural cycle gestational length?
Hi all, We previously had a 5 day blastocyst FET and the total gestation was 40 weeks as they calculated - through a controlled cycle of injections to down regulate etc. Next time, we may go down the natural cycle route via 5 day blastocyst FET. So in other words, timing the ovulation and no injecti...
