Nurse said after 2 week wait from the embro transfer we would be 2 weeks 5 days pregnant.

During first 7 week scan a different nurse said we were 7 weeks and a day. But somewhere an extra 2 weeks has been added as it was only 4 or 5 weeks since the transfer to the first scan.

I understand you are actually 4 weeks pregnant plus embryo blastocyst.

Why on earth did the first nurse calculate it differently?! Concerned I am.

Theories to this would be helpful.

It sounds like the first nurse has counted weeks and days from egg collection, rather than how many weeks/days you’re actually pregnant.

A normal cycle you would calculate from the first day of your last period and they assume everyone ovulates on cycle day 14.

So in theory, egg collection on cycle day 14, blastocyst for preferred amount of time by clinic (in your case 5 days?), then two week wait giving you 4 weeks, 5 days

How do you mean she counted from egg collection? Wouldn't that still be 4 weeks even if she meant to calculate via this form?

It should be lovely but if she’s telling you 2 weeks 5 days pregnant after 2 week wait she’s not counted the two weeks prior to egg collection which officially made you 4 weeks, 5 days after the two week wait like the other nurse told you.

Does that make sense? x

Ah absolutely. It was more a case me wondering why she would not count it as it is what I assumed a standard practice by IVF nurses and NHS GPs to add 2 additional weeks to gestation.

It was either human error or some alternative method I think.
