Hello ladies
Has anybody recently gone through the immunology treatment along with the long protocol ? I am a bit concerned with the side effects it might have!
I know there is enough literature to know what the side effects are , but any one with first hand experience?
I might sound shallow , but particularly interested in weight gain ! Paranoid about that.
Any idea how much weight you can gain with 4-6weeks of steroids? If I do get a BFP, happy days! Not too bothered after that. But concerned about the steroids during the stimulation phase.

Steroids make you feel quite good actually, more energy and take away aches and pains! That's why body builders take them! I have been on them for 9 weeks now. I haven't put on any weight (morning sickness also helps with that!!). Main side effect in the begining is I think they effect my sleep a bit (but I'm not a good sleeper anyway). However longer term the main pain is they suppress your immune system. That's what they're supposed to do and as a result I'm pregnant after multiple IVF cycles which I am eternally grateful for. However i have never had so many colds/ sore throats in my life! And hence can't wait to get off them!
Would suggest getting your flu jab before you start treatment by the way as immune system suppressed. I didn't and now have to wait until off steroids.
Intralipids- no side effects
Clexane - no side effects the injections just hurt and leave bruises.

Thank you so much for your reply . I feel a bit more confident about the immunology treatment. Having gone through so much already , this added pre treatment on top of the long protocol was just adding unnecessary pressure on us.
Are you on Prednisone? What dose are you on?
I have been recommended 20 mg.
When do you stop the aspirin , clexane? And how many intrilipids have you had ?

I'm on prednisolone 20mg. I got the enteric coated one so a bit less harsh on my stomach and took omeprasole also, but that was more preventive as I cant tolerate anti-inflammatories well (get a sore stomach from ibuprofen etc). This seems to have done the trick as no tummy problems. But wouldn't worry unless that's an issue you have. The gp can always change them if problems.
I'm not with care fertility and I think the protocols vary between units but was advised to wean down from 20 to 10 mg at 10 weeks then 5mg at 11 weeks. What does your unit say as I am quite nervous to stop them in all honesty?
Intralipids were before the transfer (about a week I think?) and then at about 7 weeks pregnant.
Didn't have aspirin and clexane I stopped at 10 weeks. Basically the unit stop everything at 10 weeks (hormones too) but steroids you have to stop gradually as will make you ill otherwise (you will get instructions!). Although I think other units stop at 12 so would be interested to hear what you have been advised as having got this far I can't imagine a day not taking the damn things!! Although a drug free life would be nice....
We also did PGS in the end as immune treatment on its own wasn't enough (ie the embryos were abnormal so weren't going to implant). Took multiple attempts to find this out so hold on in there if it doesn't work and maybe look at adding this if you've tried a few times unsuccessfully. Good luck xx
