Hi, I am new to this forum but was hoping to get some advice from you all.
I am 41 and we have been ttc for 2 and a half years. I did conceive naturally twice but both ended in early miscarriage, my last miscarriage being over a year a go. I have a pretty low AMH and so we were advised to try IVF. We started our first cycle 3 weeks ago, it was all going well as I responded well and managed to get 10 eggs. However, none of the eggs fertilized, I was told this is very unusual, we have an appointment with the clinic this afternoon to discuss our options. Has this happened to anyone else? I haven't had much feedback yet but when I initially spoke with the consultant she said both sperm and egg quality seemed good. Are there any reasons the eggs may not fertilize?
Would be great to hear from you.

Hope you are doing well ! I went through a similar situation last month . I am 41 as well , never got pregnant naturally. My first ivf in November I had only 3 eggs but got pregnant with one and had a miscarriage in January .
Now in June I had 8 eggs collected and 1 fertilized. We were really devastated. But few hours later after she called us we had 2 more. We end up with 2 blastocyst both top quality.
I got one back and had a chemical pregnancy. Last Saturday we have used the frozen and find today I am not pregnant .
But what I know I was a bit over stimulated and I had my trigger when follicles were bigger than 25 mm. I know if they to big they are not able to fertilized .
I read as well it might be something with Juno proteins.
Ask them questions!!! The fact you manage to get pregnant naturally is a big step !!
Good luck and hope your dream will come true very soon !

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I am sorry to hear about your miscarriages . I did speak to my consultant and she didn't mention anything about the fact that over stimulation can affect fertilisation, but I didn't ask so I suppose she wouldn't! I will get back in touch as she did say I was nearly over stimulated. She suggested icsi next time, which we will go for and hope that it helps tge eggs fertilise.
Are you giving it another go? It's so emotional
Good luck, sending you lots of

Sorry about no fertilization. It can be devastating as well . They will not tell you about big follicle not fertilized as is a bit their fault to leave to long .
But if you do some research you can see the best size for follicle to be trigger is between 19-22.
Maybe in your case this is not the reason as I am sure from 10 eggs you had some smaller as well , not all were big .
I read something about a Juno protein missing . If this protein is missing from your body fertilization can be an issue.
Hope you will find out more! Icsi is an option as well ! If they suggested they did it with a reason .
Best of luck and let me know how it goes!
I am fed up to start again . Is such a frustrating time and I can not see a happy end ! I am almost 42 , the age is not in my favour .
Send you lots of positive vibes!
I am here to talk if you want ! Feel free to email !
Re: No eggs fertilized
Hello again,
Thanks for your reply and information...really useful. I sometimes get overwhelmed trying to read up about stuff and also don't always know what to believe! I will definitely look into the Juno protein (not sure if it is possible to do anything about it). I think you are right about my follicles, they can't all of been too big, so there must be some other reasons they didn't fertilise. We are going to try icsi but not for a couple of months as I have to have a hysteroscopy first as the lining of my uterus looked slightly unusual in my last 2 scans!
I'm really sorry to hear about your experiences, it is so hard
Thanks for the offer to email, I may well take you up on that

I read a lot, I know google have always pro and contras but I try to read for certified fertility websites.
IVF is a hard process , can be very stressful and devastating in the mean time if is not successful.
We have to be patient . I have to remove my cervical polyp they found me one during egg transfer.
Best of luck ! Keep positive as much as you can .
Let me know how it goes.xxxxx
